The Metadata Editor feature in GLOBALedit allows users to tag individual images by searchable keywords. Users can then filter jobs by these keywords and create saved searches of images which they can share as lightboxes or send to talent as approval galleries.
Images can be tagged with information such as talent names, image captions, whether it is a group, still or single shot and whether it is a gallery or episodic shoot. Information such as the photographer, copyright, episode and series name can be applied to entire folders or jobs.
Users can tag the images before they upload them to GLOBALedit using their preferred processing software or they can input the data within Metadata Editor on GLOBALedit.
Once the images are tagged, users can create saved searches under the Search tab. Searches can be filtered by criteria such as metadata schema, field and specific keyword(s). You can also search in combination with ratings; for example you can find all selects made for a certain actor.
If you run the search from the Search tab, it will search for those keywords within all of the jobs in your Library. If you would like to search only within a specific job or folder, you can go to that folder in My Library and select the saved search from the Filter tab.
Another feature in Metadata Editor is the ability to export reports on certain schema and metadata fields. Within Metadata Editor, just go to the Edit dropdown menu and select Export data for current selection to csv.
You can then select which metadata fields you would like to export and it will export the report to your computer as a .csv file.
Users can also copy metadata from one image to another by selecting Copy Current Record from the Edit dropdown menu and then selecting the image or group of images they want to copy this data to and then selecting Paste from the Edit dropdown menu.
You can specify which metadata fields to copy if you don’t want to copy everything in that record.
Metadata Editor also gives you the option to manually save changes each time you make them or you can select the Always Save without Asking feature and anytime you navigate away from an image you have made changes to the system will automatically save these changes.
If you ever navigate away from an image you are working on by accident and the changes are automatically saved you can always undo your last save in the Edit dropdown menu.
